At one end of the island is the exclusive North, known to locals and holidaymakers as ‘Kensington-on-Sea’. Recent visitors here include Prince William and Roman Abramovich. Just three hours drive south is the budget resort of Kavos, a clubbing Mecca notorious for boozy 18-30s parties. And then there’s everything in between, from the resort of Sidari, where British families eat egg-and-chipsand enjoy karaoke nights and tribute acts to the quiet seclusion of a small Greek village where the local priest blesses the new British run guest house.
But this summer, everyone on the island is concerned about the economic situation in Greece and realise that they need the tourist season to be stronger than ever. Will the British tourists keep on coming or will this be the year they stay away?
