In this revealing and insightful documentary, he talks us through his life in football, picking out the games, goals, events and characters that shaped his career and transformed him into the international superstar he is today.
Also contributing to the documentary are those who know David best, including Victoria Beckham, Ray Winstone, Michael Parkinson, Gordon Ramsey, Gary Neville, Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo.
In Madrid, we see Beckham as he prepares for the biggest summer of his career – the World Cup in 2006 – training with Real Madrid, practising his legendary free kicks, and earning the respect of the football-mad Spanish public with his performances on the pitch.
Jetting over to Manchester, Beckham faces tough questioning from the media at England’s press conferences. In London, he gives us a personal tour of his new pride and joy: the David Beckham Academies.
Back home in Madrid, we get a first-hand insight into the advantages and glamorous benefits of being the world’s most famous sportsman. We see him in his new mansion, chartering his own private jet, and cruising around Madrid in his sports cars.
Posing the questions to Beckham is cult footballing expert and presenter of hit television show Soccer AM, Tim Lovejoy. Using his trusted relationship with Beckham to carefully probe the highs and lows of the superstar’s career, Tim gains a unique insight into David Beckham’s life: from his true feelings on why he left United, to what it means to be captain of England.

The England captain came over as a deeply likeable chap, as I think we all knew he was really. And the access was incredible - Tim Lovejoy got to wander round the Bernabeu with Becks, watch a game with Victoria, ride around in their cars and jets, dine with him in his favourite Madrid restaurant."Sam Woolaston, Guardian Unlimited
