All around the country, race hate crime has been on the rise. In 2017, the team spent most of the year filming in one of our most multi-cultural regions, Greater Manchester, at a time when they experienced their worst terror attack in living memory: the Manchester Arena bombing. The fallout resulted in an immediate rise in the number of hate crime attacks. This documentary takes us to the frontline of racial hatred with the officers of Greater Manchester Police as they respond to hundreds of reports a month. We also hear from community leaders as they attempt to face down abuse and heal the divides.
