Tightwads (2006)

"Tightwads" is a tragi-comic film about people's relationship with money - in particular, those who find it very hard to part with it.

Fifteen-year-old Daniel has earned a small fortune from trapping moles - but hates spending any of it. He stashes the cash in a biscuit tin in his bedroom, and stores the moles in the deep freeze, alongside fish fingers and the family's frozen meals.

Dr Mark Pritchard earns a handsome living as a research scientist for a major pharmaceutical company. Despite this, he has chosen to live in an ex-British Gas van, parked in a lay-by within convenient commuting distance to work so that he doesn't have to pay rent.

In this film, what starts out as a study of eccentricity turns into an altogether more intriguing exploration of the origins of this condition.
