24 Hours (2000)

24 hours in London. 24 one-minute films, each corresponding to an hour in the day. 24 glimpses of London’s many lifestyles.

The kaleidoscope of characters includes a class of five-year-olds, Russian stripper twins, a cycle courier, an elderly insomniac, a funeral director, a homeless man and film star Kathleen Turner.

24 Hours is a prism-like, exciting way of exploring a city through film. Shot using a variety of formats, including 35mm film, digital video, photo stills and super 8, the films were directed by as varied a bunch as their subjects, and included film students, commercial directors, dubbing mixers and researchers.

24 Hours was the first programme to be commissioned in Channel 4’s highly revered Alt-TV strand, showcasing provoking, unusual and innovative film.
